Every Student, Every Day

 September 5, 2017

To all parents and guardians:

I want to take this time to thank all parents who came out to our Open House.  I hope that you were able to gain valuable information about your child’s teachers.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.  We are all here to work hand in hand to provide the very best for your child.

Just about all of our students have taken the  STAR Math and Reader initial screening tests and the LEAP 360 Diagnostic Tests. These computerized tests are all analyzed by our teachers to determine the level of help your child needs in ELA and Math and are used for our Accelerated Reader and Math programs. They are constantly        reviewed throughout the year to determine whether your child is progressing towards their personal goals.  We will be sending the results of this screening home with your child.  Additionally, all students will begin taking the Achieve 3000 level set assessment. This program will be used school-wide to further assist in  improving reading  comprehension.   This program can also be utilized at home, so feel free to allow your child to get the extra practice.

Our fall fundraiser will begin this month.  Students will have an assembly on September 15th and then come home with their fundraising packets.  Please support our fall fundraiser.

Last, but not least, due to the two days we were out for precaution in regards to Hurricane Harvey, our Fall Break days  will now become regular school days.  We were scheduled to be off on Friday, October 6th and Monday, October 9th.  Remember….we will now have school on both of those days.

Since sign-up for Adopting a Texas Classroom was closed, only a few of our homeroom classes were able to complete the sign-up.  Our classes will now team up to support each classroom that has been adopted.  Students will be sent home with a list of donations that could be made.

Educationally yours,

Ms. Markita E. Grant,
