NEWS! NEWS!! NEWS!!!

January 3, 2018

To all parents and guardians:

Happy New Year!  I hope that you all have enjoyed your family and friends this past holiday season.

It’s already January!  One semester down...one more to go!  Please know that the faculty and staff here at Elysian Fields will be kicking it into high gear for these next few months.  We have a little less than 60 instructional days left before we begin LEAP   testing.

We’d like you to know that Louisiana’s Department of Education has recently released school report cards.  Our school performance score has increased and Elysian Fields Middle School is now classified as a school with a letter grade of C.  The faculty & staff here are dedicated to making sure that next year, our School Performance Score will continue to INCREASE...not decrease.

The faculty and staff here can’t do this alone, though.  We really need your help and support.  The teachers don’t have time to deal with constant class disruptions and disrespect.  Please remind your children about the purpose for coming to school everyday & help back the teachers when they solicit your help with the behaviors in class.  Every single moment we have with your child is valuable and we want to use our time wisely...giving our students the best education possible... that not only prepares them for some standardized test...but helps to prepare them for life-long learning.  So please help us to make the remainder of this school year a wonderful experience for your child.

Last, but not least...report cards go home on January 8th.  Please be on the lookout.  If students have failing grades, you will be receiving a letter to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teachers or administration.

Educationally yours,

Ms. Markita E. Grant,

Principal
